Yes,it spies on you,it knows every porn site you've accessed is the last few months and tell your parents about that.
Google Chrome was blocked here on Sb-i for the exact same reason.

5.0 Final has come. I don't know whether google has removed the backdoor and unique ID. It's so sick.

Here are two nice google chrome alternatives for linux:
    Midori - Twotoasts.de
    rekonq, WebKit KDE browser

And some good new for those who don't like chrome(sorry rekonq is for linux only)
Rekonq to support Chrome extensions | OMG! Ubuntu!

Midori is under heavy developement, and current state is not really stable. Crashes quite often. I've tried it for some days.

Never heard about rekonq (I thoght konqueror was KDE's browser, seems they just can't agree on it, heh, so much about KDE project) but its probably bad as it is konqueror (slow, and shitty, as most qt apps are for the matter of fact).

Guys, belive me, I tried dozens of browsers on linux and only things worthy of daily using is firefox and opera. It is that simple. Firefox is becoming slow and heavy recently so opera is probably ideal choice. Picking browsers is generally waste of time anyway.

Create different profiles in Chrome, just like with Firefox:
    ChromeDeck

    .NET Framework 4.0 required.

Agree with you shadowww.I though Chrome was the best for linux but the latest dev version can't even access the extensions site.
As for Rekonq,I never tried it because..you see I'm a KDE hater.

Relative to topic: I think chromium is more popular on linux then chrome actually. But chromium is unstable enough as well.

Relative to linux: I can't stand KDE/qt either. Gnome was good in past but it become too bloated recently as well. So right now I'm using xfce which is great, fast and stable DE. If I had time to play with linux I would maybe go for even lighter solution (just some WM, like awesome). Xfce is great because its ready for use out-of-box, don't have much stuff for clicking around :)

The good thing would be that my data would remain on backups even after being deleted "forever", just like I'm sure they handle any other deletions users make in their other services.
