    Ares Galaxy

Ares Galaxy is an open source P2P file sharing application that uses its own decentralized supernode/leaf network. It was spun-off from the Gnutella network in 2002, and is currently hosted on SourceForge.net. Ares Galaxy has a simple, quick access interface with a built in audio/video viewer. The latest versions also support the BitTorrent protocol and Shoutcast radio stations.

    Hi anon

It works alright, but there's no ares in my Vista! It opens on startup and when I shut it down and try to open it again abracadabra there's no ares.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

You could try search for Ares in Program Files and then make a shortcut for it on the desktop.
    Thanks

Check if ares.exe is still running after you close it... v2.0.9 has this kind of issues with Vista, you can use v1.9 instead.

The General -> Personal details -> Speed setting controls how many peers you can connect to. Choosing a faster connection type means more connections. I have set it to "DSL" and it downloads fast.

Also, make sure you limit your upload speed to 80% of the maximum, to avoid saturating it.

Ares 2.1.4 is out. No changelog, as almost always.

Thanks, I wonder why they never post the changelog.

Beats me.I couldn't find any either.Maybe because they don't make so many changes?? But that would sound stupid.

I'd release the changelog even if it's just a few lines regarding "bugfixes". But most of the changes are probably for the chat part of the program, which I don't use.
