Fufu, I was very careful to post this under "Unmodded Clients" since that's what most people would have thought otherwise.

I have been using this for a couple of days. I think it's a very good uTorrent alternative. It will be nice to see a leecher mod based on qBittorrent one day.

I'm a bit conflicted about this myself... I'd like to drop uTorrent, but none of the other clients are better for me. The only contender I see for an alternative is PicoTorrent, and it still has a long way to go.

Agree, I think my concern is private trackers. Let's say PicoTorrent is good enough, but how long will take for private trackers to support PicoTorrent?

It uses the libtorrent-rasterbar library, which is a tried and true codebase shared by many other clients. Unless it chooses to include "bad" features (e.g. ID spoofing, not discarding peers if announce URLs are edited on private torrents, zero upload slots, manual kick/ban) or deviates too much from the standard (e.g. stats reporting), private trackers should have no problem with it in principle. The issue is, right now it has very little functionality besides the essentials - labels were only recently added, IP filtering is still a dream - so its userbase is very small, and therefore no one is pushing for it to get whitelisted. As long as the first two things remain true, so will the third.

We really need a lightweight, cross-platform GUI torrent client I recently installed uTorrent 2.2.1 to fill an emulation request, and was amazed by how slimmer the interface was, and how I didn't need to hack the executable and edit a ton of advanced settings to remove advertisements and get a usable program. Sadly old versions of uTorrent are exactly that, old, not to mention the security vulnerabilities. It remains to be seen how BitTorrent v2 will change the picture, though I think v2 (hybrid) torrents will co-exist with the large existing v1 base for the foreseeable future, instead of being a replacement.
