Thread: What shortcut keys are not used?

What shortcut keys are not used?

Some programs allow the usage of shortcut keys: binds a specific keyboard combination to a function of the program. However, most of the time, I end up overwriting one of the default shortcuts used in that program. I know that this depends on the program, but it's tedious to go through all of the used keys in the manual for something so simple.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there are specific combinations that are rarely used, if at all.

Mostly combinations of multiple control keys are never used except in some apps and tools in specific field that you're using. For example CTRL + ALT + any key is normally never used. But in media players like PotPlayer and VLC I use CTRL + ALT + ARROW to seek forward, backward and volume up/down. Your best bet is this wiki which contains what should be avoided to override in cross-platform matter.

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+anything is rarely used Why is it okay to add shortcuts but not edit or even remove the default ones, anyway?

I like to use DefKey to check whether a specific shortcut key is already used by any (popular) applications, e.g. https://defkey.com/what-means/ctrl-e.

Does nothing on Windows 7, but apparently opens a clipboard history on 10.
