Online life: single indentity vs multiple?

Sometimes I ask myself whether it is better to have a single username for all sites rather than one username per site? 15 years ago, at the beginng of my online life, I used to use to same username on all sites. This was until I discovered that I was getting banned with no reason, or received strage contacts or messages from people that knew me from other boards. It was a nightmare, which is why I advised anon, and I'd also advise each of you to stay away from the general public.
Using a different username of each site would ensure no potential issues: no one knows who you are, you can basically start over with a clean slate everywhere you register.

However, having one username everywhere, would assure pontential employers of what you are capable of. As well as potential business offers from other people. Friends/family can easily find you and communicate with you.

Currently, I use a different username for every site I use. No one can find me. SBI is the last of the Master Razor accounts created in 2005-2008.
    Penny for your thoughts?

Except for filesharingtalk.com and moofdev.net, where it was desirable to let my reputation precede me, I keep them separate. It basically avoids unnecessary drama by preventing trolls, grudge-holders and beggars from locating me elsewhere (this is a very friendly forum, but some of the others I am or have been on, not so much). If my identity elsewhere is relevant, specific details can be disclosed privately, not a problem with that. And none of my online memberships would do me any favors in front of a employer, can you imagine them reading some of the posts I've written on the off topic section here?

Anyway, there is no correct or recommended stance on this, only the one that works for you.

Well, I'd say that different username and e-mail for trackers, file sharing boards and invite forum is better, specially for those that share information. For everything else I'd use the same username and or e-mail.

I agree, most sites it is OK but in bittorrent world where banning for the slightest reasons and silly reactions is common, it's simply to much headache so different user/email is the way.

! Not if you use different passwords everywhere.

You can run the risk of is privacy invasion. Current case best to have different usernames/emails for any online accounts wrt Torrents for obvious reasons.
