What.cd Shuts Down Following Reported Raids in France

It has been a crazy week, filled with lots of joy and many sleepless hours! The community has welcomed us with open arms and that makes us more determined than ever to keep going strong.

We're almost finish with re-branding the site from XANAX to APOLLO, we've introduced some great new stylesheets and picked a new default - LinoHaze created by our member Linotype!

Yesterday we upgraded our servers, the site is flying - even with over 650.000 peers AND global freeleech. Requests are up and running, new forum sections and some minor edits to our IRCD and we're ready for action.

Some forum sections have received specific rules and are found in stickied posts.

What's next? Forcing our tracker to go SSL-only is undergoing testing and should be ready soon. LogChecker is top priority and is only a few days away. Once the LogChecker is done, all existing torrents will be checked automatically, so don't hold off on uploading your perfect collections!

In other news, we have a site-wide vote going on for our acronym. We're going to pick a new default logo & favicon and continue to update stylesheets continuously. We're also hard at work eliminating the rising torrent reports, which are now at over 2000+, which is pretty crazy!

Would also like to clarify that creating invite-threads on sites that allow them, is permitted for the time being.

How to get an invite to PTH currently inside the #pth-lounge channel on the PTH network.

1. You must have been a user of what.cd with a user class at Elite or higher.
	- Seriously, if you weren't elite or higher, you'll need to get in some other way at this time.

2. You must have some kind of proof that you were an elite at what.cd such as:
	- Screenshot of your what.cd profile
	- Screenshot of your PM inbox showing user class upgrade
	- Screenshot of IRC showing your elite vhost from what.cd's network
	- Screenshot of elite thread access from browser history

3. If you are in good standing at BTN, PTP, SCC, HDBits or GGn provide links directly to your profiles there
	- These can be provided to us in addition to your what.cd elite status proof, you still need that elite proof!
	- If you don't have accounts at any of these sites the person performing your proof may accept different sites, but they'll always need to be reputable sites.

4. Make sure all screenshots are hosted at imgur or another simple image host. Do not host on Google Docs, Google Drive, One Live, Dropbox etc

5. Be prepared. Have your screenshots, links to any profiles and your email address for an invite to be sent to ready in a message to be sent to a staff member when they request it.

6. Wait. You must not message any staff member in the channel until they announce that they are accepting peoples proof. If you do not follow the procedure you will either be moved to the back of the queue or be removed from the channel.

FAQ:
Question: I was not an elite or higher at what.cd or I don't have proof of my user class, what do I do now?
Answer: Wait. New opportunities including recruitment from other trackers will come eventually, PTH is very new, we're still figuring out how to get all of you on board in a safe way.

Question: I wasn't an elite at what.cd but .... [insert excuse for PMing]
Answer: You lookin' to get banned? Cause that's how you get banned.

anon - What do you think what.cd staff did with the anti cheat script? Do you think they shared it with any other tracker staff before erasing everything?

If the raid really went as they say it went, copying their anti-cheat scripts must have been the last thing to cross their minds.

Even if there is a backup, they're unlikely to share it with the new trackers.

The same ones from sharing data about banned users, I guess

However, there are different implications, which is why I don't think it actually happens: 1. a script written for a particular tracker may not achieve the same results on another one with different activity patterns; 2. the "it took me so much work to make this, so why should you have it for free" factor.

I posted some news about Waffles here. In a nutshell: they said they need to pay their debts with the old host and find a reliable new one before returning. At this rate, I think we'll have to wait until next year.

it looks as though xanex/apollo is going to be the main one now what has gone - pth still doesnt allow normal users to invite, and nostream looks barren at the moment (it's open for signup NOW, incidently).
