    Ghostleeching? Can admins detect it?

    Hi
It is more difficult for admins to detect this?
When you start downloading, if you let the torrent to connect to peers, then stop it, remove the tracker, and then resume the download with the peers that you have already conected.
Or you could just remove the tracker without stopping the torrent.
In what way you could you be caught doing this, and is there any difference if you stop/or don't stop the torrent before removing the tracker (passkey)

    I'll quote a post I wrote recently:

The only way to work around that is obtaining the metadata and peer list through completely external means (hint: many people seed lots of stuff on the same IP and port), and it shifts the risk of a ban to those you download from.

the can find you if they want to. i think they will have to do manually, wait for you to start downloading torrent to make sure you are the cheater.
because if you don't report download, someone is reporting upload, then they will be flagged as cheaters, but the admins/mods will check who were the last to download the torrents with ratio discrepancies and will see that you appear to have download all of those "problematic" torrents.

Hmm, I understand that some power seeders seed a lot of stuff and let us say that we found one person who is seeding every single torrent. But how will we able to start the connection to that seeder? We still need the metadata unfortunately.

A script could be written to look for people who make a single announces, or start torrents and stop them shortly afterwards. This behavior can also have legitimate causes (power failure, Internet outage, accidentally starting the wrong torrents), so they'd have to set some threshold.

    • Have someone else grab the .torrent file and send it to you.
    • Download it yourself but wait some weeks before starting it.
    • Download it with a dupe account you wouldn't mind losing.
    • A combination of all of the above.
