    Vuze Change Log:
    Vuze Change Log

    Installation:
    1. Download and install Vuze (if this is a Beta/CVS update, download the latest NON BETA release) (Vuze : Java BitTorrent Client - Download).
    2. BACK UP YOUR TORRENT LIST! IT IS LIKELY YOU WILL LOSE IT!
    3. Optional: If you want to make a backup of your old Vuze version. Go to the install directory and rename Azureus2.jar to Azureus2.jar.bak
    4. Extract the files using WinRAR (WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files) or equivalent to %PROGRAMFILES%\Vuze (C:\Program Files\Vuze) and overwrite ALL files.
    5. Run Vuze and Enjoy!
NOTE: For other operating systems simply replace the Azureus2.jar. For 64-bit, portable, and Vuze Plus support read the README in the appropriate package.

    Troubleshooting:
Before posting problems please make sure:
    1. You have updated Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to version 6 (Java SE Downloads).
    2. You have removed the Vuze folder in %PROGRAMFILES% (C:\Program Files\Vuze).
    3. You have removed the Vuze folder in %APPDATA% (The folder may be hidden).
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Vuze for XP
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Vuze for Vista
    4. Reinstalled Vuze using the package from Vuze : Java BitTorrent Client - Download
    5. Re-applied the hack from the downloaded archives.

Warning: Performing steps 2 and 3 will wipe your torrent list and Vuze settings.

    Enjoy!

Doesn't work for me - with 5.7.1.1 only few seeds/peers connect (and only after quite a while), while switching back to the last 5.7.0.0 .jar solves the problem and all torrents instantly instantly. Probably a Vuze core problem though and not sb, and no ... I didn't take the hassle to reset all prefs, reinstall Vuze or reinstall Windows :-\

Just trying the official Vuze with the same settings would be enough, I think

The instructions there seem to be outdated, though. But I figured it out and posted my approach in the thread in case anyone else finds it useful.

Make sure Max connections per torrent is not 0. I think this is a bug in Vuze 5.7.1.1.

0 now literally means 0, not unlimited as per the UI.

Does it only affect that option?

Right, that would be it, thanks :-o ... it would be great to get a beta 5.7.1.2 (or whatever) upgrade once Vuze fixes this of course.

Here ya go: 5711 B07 - Vuze Dev Blog ... though fixing it might not be that pressing b/c I just read up and discovered limiting the connections to a sane value is actually more sensible than 'unlimited'.

Only you can decide that, but some reasons might be: proven reliability, high amount of features, regular updates.

    Lightbulb safer

Is there a way to modify the installation wrapper (on windows) to _not_ be shown "offers" or be otherwise liberated from evil third party ads? It is after all open source

Get Azureus from Sourceforge, as far as I remember there's an eveil-free(tm) version there... from then on, just replace the .jar with the sbi hack.

I think that's what I downloaded for Mac. Even though I opted out of the adware it installed a hijacker ad on for firefox and chrome that kept changing the home page and default search engine as well as location bar search back to yahoo. It also changed the home page of Safari to Yahoo.com and changed the default search engine to that as well without even asking for my concent. The ad on was disguised under a totally unrelated name that you wouldn't suspect for being a home page hijacker and it did not ask to be installed or inform about it doin so. It just installed itself along Vuze even though I opted out of all the adware crap. Really annoying and it took forever to get rid off :-). Who would have thought that Yahoo was that such a sneaky business.
