It just adds up. Come to think of it, microsoft didn't really change much over the years. It made life difficult back then as well as today. Maybe I'm too hung up on the past, i think windows was always shit.

    on a side note:
I iz a pirate, I haz peg leg, arrrgg!!!!!!!!!!!

It's unlikely that watching porn was among your assigned tasks, so don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

Microsoft said they wanted not just to license the image for use as XP's default wallpaper, but to buy all the rights to it. They offered O'Rear what he says is the second-largest payment ever made to a photographer for a single image; however he signed a confidentiality agreement and cannot disclose the exact amount.[11] It has been reported to be "in the low six figures."[2]

This hardly sounds like Goliath exploiting David; quite the opposite actually.

As for Wes Cherry, they could have thrown him a bone, but the terms of his (unpaid) internship were clear from the beginning, so once again it's not like Microsoft cheated him or something. And he is credited in the About window on all versions of the game that use the original code.

In both cases, knowing that something you have made has been seen/played by billions around the world is the greater reward, anyway.

if the company had some integrity they would have paid him a nice sum regardless of the contract - it could be called acknowledgement and at least an attempt at equal treatment

note: did not watch the video, i'm commenting on a hunch

    Rant of the day:
Seeing that there isn't any browser in this world that effeciently handle 2000+ bookmarks I've decided to stop storing bookmarks in browsers and just add them to a folder on my computer, originizing them in subfolders and so on.
    This achieves:
    - easier maintainance: finding, renaming, editing
    - easier adding bookmarks and storing
    - can handle an infinite number of bookmarks
    - scripting can automate automatic renaming from getter better prices! to lapmylovepump.org

Just wait until keepass won't be able to handle the accounts I have.. They are growing each day.
I'm so tired of coming up with solutions to problems that should never exist in the first place.

just wait until it gets too tiresome to bother with so many accounts

I'm so tired of coming up with solutions to problems that should never exist in the first place.
the reasons could be a combination of: 'we did not expect such problems' or 'the software solutions weren't able to process such amounts of data' or the like

also, if these problems exist, there are valid reasons for their existence, thus they should be existing as they are - this is a recommended way to interpret any event in any era regarding anyone or anything

Perhaps you'd make a good software QA tester...

The second operating system hiding in every mobile phone

You can't trust any electronics nowadays, you don't truly own anything you buy, and everything's tapped or can be tapped by deliberate design. Some people call Richard Stallman a paranoid psycho, but he's 100% right on this.

Oh, just one of the masterminds behind little things like the GNU project, the GPL and the Free Software Foundation.

Make sure to visit his site at stallman.org and read some of the articles and stories he's written, particularly "The Right to Read".

i'd say he represents what you'd call 'controlled opposition' that actually reinforces current mainstream goals
