    OpenMandriva

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this or even it's sister OS, Rosa Linux.

Kate Lebedeff has announced the availability of OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0, the latest stable release of a distribution that features a highly customised and intuitive KDE desktop:
    More information here:

Only just a few of the Release Notes I have published

    Kernel

The kernel has been upgraded to 3.13.11 nrjQL – a powerful variant of the 3.13.11 kernel that has been configured with desktop system performance and responsiveness in mind.

    Desktop

We've introduced oma-welcome, or Welcome to OpenMandriva Lx. This application introduces users to OpenMandriva Lx and shows them some of the features we have, as well as providing quick links to common tasks such as updating, installing new software, and configuring their desktop

    KDE 4.12.4

We've upgraded to the latest and greatest version of the KDE desktop

Thought that Mageia is successor to Mandriva, never heard about this particular distro. But then, I've been always avoiding KDE default ones...

Ya. I dont' care too much for all that over-done eye-candy either. It looks nice and does provide the functionality like other distros. But I guess some distro users don't mind the extra stuff. I have used it with before on one system (can't remember at the moment). I didn't find that much of a footprint usage of it. Though, that's also dependent on one's machine that it's being used on.
