Help with garbled nfo files.

Hello sb-i, do any of you know if there's any way to convert or "unscramble" garbled nfo text to a properly nfo file which can then be correctly viewed in nfo viewers?

Normally, viewing the first one as an ANSI file with a DOS font should be enough. But some of the characters in it seem to have changed (if you replace U with Ü it'll suddenly look a lot closer to the second one). I don't know if there's an automated way to "repair" them, but I'd guess not.

It's kinda strange how they get scrambled. I guess it's due to cross conversion between different systems, e.g. windows/dos to unix and vice-versa.

for an automated way you'd have to figure out what exactly caused the change (or whats the pattern of the change), does it always happen the same way (same source),...

there's the quick manual way of using a good group nfo as a template, filling it up with useful data from the garbled nfo and saving/using such resulting nfo file

and ofc internet's favourite: 'get better sites'

It happens at random, as I only download from torrent lately I guess some files are screwed up in the source, i.e., the uploader.

Well, it's not really the end of the world, it's just annoying, so I decided to inquire in the hopes that it happened to someone else, and they had figured something out.

Missing files are the worst, specially if you are using a small tracker. So I usually test every new downloaded torrent that comes packed.
