Well, they're there to be downloaded, so that alone should be no cause for suspicion.

Exactly. Unless you want to cheat downloading all the files !!!. The true valued content imho are the ebooks and they are small and got no good representation site so far except myanonamouse. Also they are not easy to gather or find everywhere. So if I got the option to do such thing it would be for all the ebooks on bib, mam, bitspyder and bitme. Then I might think about the rest of the elearning different content.

rough estimate for any site: multiply the total number of their torrents with the average size of a torrent
example: 500.000 torrents * 500 MB/torrent (size of the 250.000-th torrent, when sorted by size) ~ 240 TB

if they are monitoring leakage of unique contents, they will be suspicious of users who grab a lot of torrents

I care very much about this site and would not like for it to dissapear like...

try to run a project like archive.org, just for private torrent site(s)
offer backup mirroring to the site staff (useful to quickly get the site running after a downtime, or to fill any reseed requests, etc.)

the alternative is to do it in a one-man show way, which is troublesome, though perhaps doable with rss and many TB-sized hard drives

black-hat options: contact google or nsa/cia, they're probably already trying to download the internetz anyways lol
