Well, that settles it. At least you can reuse the hard disk, RAM sticks and wireless card.

My sister and I decided to buy a new TV, old one died a few months ago. We went for Samsung Q60 series. The picture is great, but OMG when I tried playing Infinity War and found out it doesn't support DTS sound! I legit wanted to take it back. The TV I bought for my dad, 3 years ago (also Samsung), supports everything! Half of my movies library have DTS sound!
Well, I'm sure hindsight is 20/20, but you have to check these things before you buy.

I just assumed it's supported since older TV has it!
Not everything thats new is new and/ or better, rather worse. It's all about making money nothing alse.
I have a Samsung UE55F6770, it has everything you want (for example 3D and many connection options) and it's nearly 5 years old. After that, nothing of the kind was built.
It really all depends on what you want and need. I heard they dropped DTS support so they wouldn't have to pay the royalties, making the actual tv sets cheaper.
For you, that sucks. For me, it's great. I never play anything on the tv itself anyway, everything passes through a receiver that supports things like DTS etc. Even though newer tv speakers are getting better, a lot of them still suck. So I'll gladly just hook it up to the sound system instead. (tbh, I'm not even sure how many people actually used DTS on their tv set.)
Same thing with the 3D tv's. I had one for a while, I wasn't happy with the results and I'm happy I didn't have to pay a premium for another 3D tv when I got my current one.
So yeah, newer might not mean better, but in a way I'm happy most of the money is going towards the panel in the tv rather than royalties or features I use once a year. It's the picture quality in the end that's most important on the tv.

What kind of receiver you have?
Tee hee, I'm suddenly remembering when DVD players were all the rage. My dad bought a Sony one because he had to have the absolute best, but it only supported DVDs and couldn't even read around half the ones we had. My uncle bought a cheap, no-brand one at the same time... played every disc (original or burnt) and also supported VCD, AVI, MP3 and audio CDs
Same reason Microsoft killed DVD/MPEG2 support in Windows 8, saved approximately $1 million in the process.

I have a Philips DVD player which is still working fine, and it's like 15 years old
