Fufuhi, maybe being an unpaid software tester for the eternal beta called Windows 10 is actually awesome and I'm just missing out.

I love W7. When I opened control panel on W10, I barely managed to find what I wanted!

It's actually not that bad and most things can be found by just searching in your start menu. It's mostly a thing of getting used to and that always sucks.
However, what does drive me absolutely crazy is that they _STILL_ haven't ported everything to the new menu. So for some things you'll have to open the old one (which you can still fully use if you hate the new one that much) or the old one even opens automatically. It's the worst.

PS: You can open the old one by searching start for "control panel" or even by just typing it in the address bar in explorer.

There are two control panels in Windows 10. Let that sink in for a minute

It's been less than two years (my last login was on March 2019), but the "back soon" notice has been there since June and none of their other staff members have heard from the sysop since. It's effectively dead now.

If you used the Start=0x4 method, that eventually resets itself. The only tried and true way to disable Windows Update is to remove it altogether, but it can't be undone easily or at all.

That's almost good enough ("security updates will still be installed automatically[; f]or all other updates, you will be notified that they are available"). The first two options in the article don't really work anymore.

    windows 10 lean?

I've used the stripped versions as bases since xp

Not used the 10 lean, but the others were quite acceptable.

The 'stripped' 10's are 'lite' and theres a few bundles 7/10 iso torrents

You're always better off grabbing an untouched ISO from Microsoft plus individual update patches and working from there. Windows XP got an official lightweight version in the form of Fundamentals for Legacy PCs, but that uses a Vista-based installer and cannot be modded. The good news is that it's not any faster or better than a normal XP that has gone through nLite.

Speaking of which, I'm quite an expert with nLite, but that's because I have learned an insane amount from eXPer1ence's releases... going all the way back to his "Mini Windows XP SP2" which can't even be found online anymore. Unfortunately he de facto retired on 2011, citing extreme financial trouble.

I used a couple of the nLite type utils to strip earlier versions of XP , but ended up using (and still using on a game server) xp stripped sp3 - very similar to the one on Hirens'
They did it better than I did LOL

Like some of the new win10 lites, a few of the stripped xp/win7's went too far

I see the win10 lites are leaving in IE and WMP, but it looks like a few of APKGods more stripped down win10 versions will struggle to do much without some work. The less stripped ones should be great as his work usually is.

    - taking out WMP causes issues with USB phone connection from memory believe it or not (usb drivers) which are obscure but can be show stopping for your phones connection.

you can install a normal win10 and stripp after install with different softwares like windows10debloater
but still windows 7 remained the best on win 10 with all the av firewall and security settings on you can't pass by isdone.dll when you are trying to install a cracked game
