mR or RM on a Mac?

Hey guys I recently bought a new mac laptop to replace my 6 year old dying windows laptop and as this is my primary machine, I'd like to do some torrenting on it and with that comes a little cheating so I can maintain a decent ratio on my bad internet connection. Anyway this thread wasn't started so that I would be bashed on for making the switch or to start a flame war of mac vs pc or whatever.

I was wondering if there is a way to get mratio or ratio master to work on a mac even though they are .exe files. I did some searching around and found out that older versions were compatible through mono a .net framework mac alternative however I could not get the newest versions to run through mono. My next move was to try to run them through crossover a wine app for mac and still had no luck. I was wondering if there's a way to get these apps to run without me having to rely on using bootcamp/virtual machines to run windows.

As a followup to my last question, what mods/apps out there are compatible with the mac just so I know what I have to work with?

Thanks for the help in advance, Zora

I can't tell you to just install Windows on it then

mR won't work with Mono because it uses unsupported code. Someone once got RM running under Mac, but the forum where they posted the tutorial has been down for a long time now. Vuze, as a multi-platform Java application, will work and is most likely the best choice.

if you're more comfortable & experienced using rm/mr more than vuze , then i suggest that you download VMware Fusion & install windows on your virtual machine .

The crash on mac is at least for the lack of user32.dll

Interop with Native Libraries - Mono

I tried crossover which is basically wine on steroids and had no luck. I'm going to try parallels tonight after work the only thing that I'm kinda worried about is the memory reader. Would it be able to read and get the memory data even if my torrent client is on a mac and mR is on windows?

I'm almost 100% sure that no . Isn't possible to create a client with non random information? if yes you could use one that match your mac client.

What BitTorrent client are you using on your Mac? Under Windows, memory reader is something you only need for uTorrent.*

Making a feature as technical as this to work under an emulated environment is usually asking for too much, but someone managed it in Linux.

    * = I should write something about keys that are used for all torrents and maybe uTorrent for Mac here, but today's been a long day.

I'm using transmission but I could always switch. It's not that big of a deal

I finally got everything up and running. So to clarify, if I use transmission memory reader isn't needed for cheating correct? How about if I use uTorrent for mac do I need to do memory reader or is that just a windows thing?

Thanks for all the help guys!
