    Firefox extension: ecleaner.

You gotta get this if you are like me who does not like no longer used extensions leaving stuff behind inside firefox. I found this via StumbleUpon and yes it does it's job. I saw a few extensions that left their dirty underwear behind for me still.

Clears preferences left by extensions after uninstallation

    About this Add-on

This add-on can be used to clear all those preferences left by extensions after uninstallation, all those garbage which some developers do not care on clearing themselves on their add-ons and which later or sooner will make Firefox to load slower.

To do this, go to the list of add-ons and locate eCleaner, open his Options window and you'll be presented with a list of saved preferences by extension, and their corresponding number of stored values. Select the extensions which you no longer have installed and click the "Clear Selected" button. Volia! garbage erased :-)

You can select multiple extensions at a time, use CTRL+LMB or SHIFT+LMB, you know.

Please note, this is a preliminary first version, with the basic feature of cleaning preferences on a quick way, more advanced features will come later if there is interest from most of you, your feedback and reviews will decide that.

You can also do this manually. Just look for references to addons you no longer have on prefs.js and localstore.rdf, inside your profile folder. Some of them leave a lot of junk...

Oh ya. I believe it. For sure. One of the things that makes a browser slower than molasses can drip are junk files.

This idea about reviewing and cleaning out the 'localstore.rdf' file is probably better. I went through mine and yes there were some leftovers that weren't needed which perhaps ecleaner may not have recognized or some other reason missed them.

One question about this addon. How exactly do I know which value I can clear/delete? Some have just 1 and some have more than that.

I'm not sure yoco. I think you just have to back up your extensions first in case you mistakenly take out/delete some part of one of the extensions that you still want to keep and then go ahead and make your best judgement. I like the idea of reviewing your localstore.rdf file and also looking inside your prefs.js files as well. In speaking for myself only, so far when I went inside the 1st file and deleted some content I didn't notice any problems. And that includes using this particular extension as well b/c after deleting some content inside the .rdf file, some stuff didn't show up inside the extension list from ecleaner. So I think that this extension might possibly also look inside some of the 2 aforementioned files. Though that's just my guess. Could be wrong though.
