between this and the Mentalist, which one would you recommend?? I saw a couple of episodes of the Mentalist, but didn't warm up to it, because none of the characters are that interesting, except possibly the protagonist..

Mentalist is an awesome tv show! One of my all time favorite. You must watch it!

will take another look at the Mentalist.. in any case, I prefer shows with a continuous storyline like Dexter.

Trust me if Mentalist would have 12 episodes per season it would as good, but since it has 24 they need to make some stuff up. Same would happen to Dexter. Like I said before, it's top notch show, I really love it.
