Newbie Demonoid questions

I downloaded few torrents from Demonoid, it reported each torrent had at least 30 seeders (most of the torrents are ebooks and the report was updated few hours back, I think 5-6 hours ago), but when I started the download, it showed only 1 leecher and 0 seeder, is this because of my low ratio or the torrent does not care the ratio when downloading? Please bear with me I'm new to this (I've been using torrent mostly for downloading and never curious about what's behind it until now with this problem). Is there any other site good with ebooks, especially epub books?

ps: I've added additional public trackers to the torrent, but nothing changed.

Demonoid doesn't care about ratio in any aspect, other than displaying it to you and showing an orb of differing color next to your name. So it's not that. Are there any tracker errors visible in your client?

About ebooks, that question's been asked a lot since library.nu closed. I'd recommend a forum search.

No, there are no errors, I'm using uTorrent 1.7.7 and DHT 328 & network icon green.

Thanks for the tip, what I'm trying to find is a torrent site specialized in ebook (probably a private one), the ones posted are sites hosting ebooks, mostly copyright free ebooks.
