a quick web search gives the answer (sort of):

The looks of Max Payne in the trailer, which was released on-line September 14, 2011, shocked some fans of the game. Computer Repair Kansas City Max Payne is a fictional character, and it is not unusual for video game characters to maintain the identical id, but change in look with each game. Link, from the Zelda games, is an ideal instance of this. This isn’t the primary time Max Payne has undergone a face-change.

The truth is, each Max Payne sport had a different inspiration for the looks of the character. A part of the reason being as a consequence of modifications in graphics technologies, but there are many different reasons to alter a personality’s appearance. In the first sport, Max was drawn in the likeness of his creator and writer, Sam Lake. The second sport was impressed by actor Timothy Gibbs, while this latest likeness was drawn from the voice actor of the character, James McCaffrey.

Adjustments to the setting and look of Max’s character disturbed some fans. Nevertheless, the modifications made to the setting and the character himself, are all addressed in the story arc of those games. While some avid gamers would possibly miss the snowy New York scenery and full-head of hair on their favourite character, most people are anticipated to take pleasure in and admire the path of this latest game.

I don't care how he looks like, as long as the game is great!

I haven't even downloaded yet. 26GB seems a bit to much for me! And when you install it's over 30GB of files, for only 10h of gameplay, that's what I read on forum!
