That's not what we're talking about. It's not 'dumbness' that's being spoken of it's actually posting that person's username publicly online giving other people from trackers the ability to search and disbable that same person's account ( using ip, email info and so forth).

    How do you know this??
    Prove it.
How do you know that he's not using some other username on this forum. Why give the guy the opputunity for personal embarrassement??
Is embarressment really needed to fulfil some idea of listing him as a 'dummy'?? (which isn't even the issue. It's actually posting his username info)How would you feel if you were in the early stages of cheating and discovered that your username is the publicly posted??

That might be and I totally disagree with that kind of action from any torrent site. If anything is 'dumb', that specific action is.

Anyways. All is well. I'm glad you saw at least some reason in the disagreement and removed that person's username and I commend you in that. I gave you positive rep b/c you deserve it for doing this.

well, its not about helping at all costs, ie. such an attitude does have its limits

i'd say it doesn't make much difference either way, it just makes the task of finding out the user related info somewhat harder (there's still the tracker name, the date(s), the upped amount,...) - after the actual event/actor, its the news itself that carries the potential weight or possible consequences by spreading around and giving away bits & pieces of usable information, though since its just data on some virtual persona that people change almost like clothes its nothing particularly damaging, might even prove educational to that particular individual - that being said, its nothing to worry much about

finally, your suggestion to remove the user name is a good solution as a compromise between either doing nothing or removing/over-censoring the post, thus another positive rep for you has been sent...

as a side note, the cheater is probably not dumb, but rather careless, whether intentionally so or not

as publicly/commonly stated, but more accurately its due to lazy & prejudiced tracker staff, resorting to extreme measures to compensate for their own incompetence or unresolved personal issues, using the aforementioned reason as a simple excuse to justify their exaggerated actions

Successfully flashing on TT isn't unheard of, I think... but I think the person who tried it didn't do 2.2 million terabytes

Yup. That's what happens when you cheat. You risk an account that you've sought for. And that's not even including talking about the idea that your inviter to said site just wasted his invite on the guy. Even if the guy was there only for 4 months.
