Network cable unplugged/not connected to a network.

Because it's not connected with cable, like xDSL?

If it's a wireless network I don't think the first half of my post applies

Yeah I know it isn't for your console. That's just me talking to myself in some instances whiles trying to help you out. Did you try what I uploaded for you? That should work as I haven't had success on the current connectify just the one I posted. Try and see.

Yea I tried. After creating a "hotspot" on laptop and enabling Wi-Fi on my phone, all it does is searching, and sometimes finds it, but then all I see is "connecting". That's all!

Yes one last thing. Disable your firewall and that should solve it.

You could create permission for it though but Eset Nod32(if that is what you are using) still wont let you connect. Disable any firewall completely and see it work.

    Firewall already disabled! Nothing works!
I googled and I read that you need to root your phone and add some file in order to work, but I don't know a thing about that!

Hmm that is strange, maybe you could try connecting to the connectify link with a different device and see if the problem is from the connection itself or the phone. I have same connection setup on my laptop and sharing internet to 2 laptops and my nokia E5. No problems whatsoever

rooting the s2 is easy as hell - you just need to be sure that your kernel flash matches the version or your current build. you should check the xda devs site for info on this - it will take you all of 2 minutes though. the only issue when flashing gingerbread on the sgs2 is that you'll be left with a yellow exclamation mark upon booting, and the custom rom counter on your phone will read '1' instead of '0', letting any phone engineer know that you have rooted it and thus invalidating the stock warranty. i built a jig for mine to reset this info, but you can buy the same kind of thing from ebay for a few pounds/dollars/euros...

the site for all decent info on your phone is the xda forums - Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 - xda-developers
here you'll find guides for rooting etc - but read carefully before trying anything (i don't know how skilled you are).

once it's rooted, get a copy of titanium backup. it will allow you to back up everything on your phone (even the stock system apps included in the rom). this means that you can get everything back to how it was if ever anything goes wrong.

rooting is useful as hell, as all locks and security is lifted, but bare in mind that the bad side to that is malware etc, so always be on your guard.

with specific reference to your wifi and ad-hoc links, there is info and tutorials regarding these on the site i posted above - check them out!

the sgs2 is a great phone - enjoy it!
