Question Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Apple’s Board of Directors today announced that Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Tim Cook, previously Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s new CEO. Jobs has been elected Chairman of the Board and Cook will join the Board, effective immediately.

“Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company,” said Art Levinson, Chairman of Genentech, on behalf of Apple's Board. “Steve has made countless contributions to Apple’s success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.”

“The Board has complete confidence that Tim is the right person to be our next CEO,” added Levinson. “Tim’s 13 years of service to Apple have been marked by outstanding performance, and he has demonstrated remarkable talent and sound judgment in everything he does.”

Jobs submitted his resignation to the Board today and strongly recommended that the Board implement its succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO. [...]

he seems to have delusions of grandeur as well (if he hadn't attended those calligraphy classes & accordingly made the mac fonts, its likely that no pc would have had them - he let the generation of entrepreneurs down, dropped the baton), doesn't miss a chance to throw dirt on the competition (micro$), turns it into a part jobs & mac promo speech, part howto live your life & part shallow philosophy

to trust that the dots will somehow 'connect' in the future? they always do, not necessarily the way one imagines or as one wants them to 'connect' or pleasantly or successfully or..., regardless of one's trust in it - what one can do is to influence the way they connect as opposed to being a passive by-stander

no one wants to die? only those clinging (too) firmly to their current 'life' have trouble parting from it

death is an invention of life? he obviously doesn't have a clue

work, relationships,... get better as the years go by? hardly, they'll tend to get stale, automatic, 'malnourished' & taken for granted

stay hungry, stay foolish? hungry for what...money, success, fame, status & other materialistic garbage? as for foolish, didn't he just tell them not to waste their limited time a few minutes ago or was it meant as: wait for the brick, it'll do you some good

so what is he selling anyways, besides the obvious uber-mac's? his vision of how to become something similar to him, to achieve a similar status - the problem is, his 'way' only works for him, the rest have to figure out their own ways (if they want to achieve something) - mimicking jobs might be useful to some at some stages of their life, but certainly won't be adequate enough - he is selling the image of a hungry workaholic, dedicated to his work (which is usually consensual slavery/dependence for the majority), with visions/ambitions of future greatness (societal approval & status) and little time to spare on other (in his opinion secondary) things, while pretending to love it and imagining its just about the ultimate one can achieve: to be a valuable/distinguished gear in the societal machinery (which is ofc imagined to be the pinnacle of the imagined evolutionary process) - then again, what can you expect from someone who managed to acquire his own cozy cocoon within the system, high above the rest...to praise, root & recruit for the system - this also means that his own ascension within the system didn't result with a transcendence beyond the system but rather with an addictive immersion within its higher levels (judging by the publicly spoken words, which were however not necessarily truthfully spoken), rendering his advice obviously inadequate regarding anything that goes beyond the mundane - on the other hand, such adventures into the relevant weren't to be expected after all
