It almost looks like an alternate version of Battle Los Angeles. Except it takes place at see. A rehash??
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

it's much better than Battle L.A.
nothing special either. the first half hour is quite useless but then the actual movie starts. it's a nice flick without depth or aspiration but that's not to be expected either so it's fine.

mostly of that and transformers, among others

it has pretty good cgi, the burrito parts were decent, the missouri starting/advancing shots & music too, the buoy sink-the-battleship part as well

the rest is just disappointingly inadequate (or shamelessly copied from its cinematic predecessors): the main actor mostly sucks (at action as well as acting), neeson blandly painting by the numbers, the rest of the crew is simply uninteresting, the dialogue was laughable, the aliens & their technology conveniently incompetent (almost) every step of the way, the plot/logic so amateurish it hurts, many pointless or contrived scenes (bar scene, sport & fight after sport scenes, japanese as sidekicks for a change, frog-like alien ship hopping, alien metal-cutter 'tail-action', alien body 'examination', telepathy scene, unfunny nerd scenes, physically disabled soldier vs. alien, rally cable-cutting, decoration scenes, bad*ss rihanna scenes, old-timer-sailors' sense of timing or awkward posing, aliens using human technology,...) - they routinely finished the movie depicting the characters without a care in the world, even though its pretty obvious that the aliens know about earth's location and will most likely send reinforcements asap (the first visitors were likely mere scouts), which naturally means that the whole movie plot about reestablishing alien communication was, well, meaningless from the start

generally, the fun factor on this one is way too low to disregard all the gaping inadequacies, its yet another failed blockbuster

compared to the aforementioned movies, i'd say it ranks somewhere along with transformers 2 & 3, worse than transformers 1 or battle l.a.

It sounds as if this film is nothing special like some others that I know of. Good to have reviews of people who've seen the film b/c this gives the person an idea of whether or not to go and spend the money to see the film to to save it for something better.
