Router and Direct PPPoE connection Suggestion

As the title would suggest, the question is somewhat complex. How can I connect my main computer to my router but also keeping the possibility of reaching WAN (bypassing the router) and connect through PPPoE.
    Possible scenario:
Power blackout, router needs a restart. In this case I want to be able to directly connect to the net.

It sounds weird, yes but how to do it?

Don't completely understand what you want. What would exactly prevent you from accessing the Internet after a blackout?

if you use adsl and you have adsl modem + router then simply connect the modem to the pc, but you will probably have to change ip adresses in the network connection.
