Wow this is bizarre. Americans just can't speak Spanish, in fact they should not be allowed to!

Not only that, they think that when they speak English, they speak 'American'.
I can't help but think: "What an uneducated lot"
I'd say it's them who aren't speaking English, rather Americaneese, Amurican or verbal farting,
But it also makes me wonder that every time they come across Immigratus unofficius, maybe they're thinking that they've a monkey fetish or something.

    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

imo, the american version of english suits them much better (feels natural) as opposed to the generally stiff/snotty/stuck-up 'feel' of the official english

their overall 'inability' to speak other languages properly or convincingly may have something to do with their status as a 'leading'/big country (inflated ego) and a daily over-saturation with everything 'american' (mind numbing), not to mention the general dumbing-down present in every country (though likely reaching its maxima/extremes in usa)

as for the movie, will ferell in the main role = fail, as usual - for some decent movies where he is more effective in a supporting role, see:

    Zoolander (2001)
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)

Oh my dear slikrapid, you sometimes remind me of Sheldon Cooper! This was meant as a joke, simply because most "Americans" have extremely poor language skills, specially with Spanish. Just take the movie's title: although it is grammatically correct, it is an incomplete sentence; it should read "La Casa de mi Padre", but well, they just think that any other language except english is just a tribal dialect meant for some (crazy) minor ethnic group.
In fact, most "American" tourists get angry at people that do not speak their language when in another country:
Once at McDonald's, there was this couple in front of me, they were speaking in english, saying something about my shoes (they were a bit tacky ); so I said "Excuse me?" and the guy just answered "Oh, you don't look like someone that speaks English!"...they were from NY.

This I believe is quite correct, desodorante. At least from my own experiences it is.

I recall a number of years ago while in Quebec some Yankee couple was at a hotel checking in while I was waiting for the bus. I wasn't too sure of what happened. Maybe they were wanting to know if noses run and feet smell??

I don't know but I could tell the poor woman behind the hotel counter, exasperated with their impatience must have been wishing that an incontinent pigeon would finally get the chance to let loose a "McBrick". Either that or maybe she just wished she had an industrial strength American repellent on hand.

Nevertheless the couple turned around to face me and, with all the impatience they could muster with the hotel-counter clerk's inability to communicate in English (since her native tongue isn't English to begin with. And this was in Le Gaspesie, too), they asked me if I could help them and quite bluntly mentioned to me "...and she can't even speak English!!"

Too a make a long story short I was polite enough to answer what-ever question they had (can't recall it atm).
In the end, I had too much sympathy for the hotel clerk. And in spite of my natural politeness, I really wished that their dentures would come have alive.

I worked at a Customer "Care" call center for the USA for three fucking years man...3-FUCKING-YEARS....I can shock you to death with stories like the one you shared.
One of the most common insults was "Fucking Mexican" to which I used to reply with "I am not Mexican sir/madame, i'm Argentinian"; that used to shake their brains a bit....Good times!

You know I think this is one film that I will download after all. The comedy in this trailer is irresistible to not watch the entire movie. Apparently it is supposed to be out this year on or about March 16.
