Ok, so I've disabled Windows caching of disk reads+writes in uSerenity (bottom 2 checkboxes) and seems everything is ok just like before, been running almost 2 days smooth now. I didn't have those disabled ever before but I don't mind doing that now, just hope that don't kill my HDD faster. No idea what caused this but here you go.

Isn't those two options ticked (already checked) by default ?

Can anyone confirm if "no upload" actually works?

Today, at 7am when i woke up, my ISP reported 45GB bandwidth usage. This was shocking as the whole reason for using either uSerenity or Vuze for me was to use "no upload" and stay off my isp's radar (and stay in our legal grey zone). Not to mention the bandwidth cap.
The torrents that had been downloaded during those 7 hours only totalled 5GB. However, the "fake upload" totalled to 40GB. I am 100% sure that only uSerenity was running and able to consume bandwidth.
All torrents were without label (thus the default label) which was set to a fake upload range below 200kbps. (no other options) They were added by utorrents rss feed reader.

Or do I need to actually assign a label?

I tested that option long time ago and it was work good ,

Choosing no upload option means what ever you choose for real upload No work any more until you UN-tick it again and save ,
Maybe you ticked it and forget saving ?
I always close and open again after ticking any option to be sure its saved .

Otherwise your ISP decode your announces and count upload and download from it ,like trackers .

No I've verified multiple times, it's ticked. And encryption is turned on, so doubt my ISP can decode the announce.
Why would my ISP count fake upload as real upload? That makes no sense :/

I'll try to see about installing a bw monitor later.

    ---------------

Edit: set 10-ish torrents to forced seeding. Total bw usage won't exceed 12kbps, which is 6 down and 6 up, most likely bw used for making the connections etc.
Very strange that I can't reproduce it, since I am very certain it was the only thing running at the time and quite the coincidence that the numbers added up.

Oh well, I'm happy for now. Must have been a fluke, I guess!

There have been isolated reports of uSerenity uploading data when told not to, but that was either overhead traffic (which is quite a lot when you download really fast) or nothing verifiable. I tested the feature with two localhost instances when it was first added, and it worked fine.

I don't think your provider is counting the data reported in announces - the customer fallout from that would be very negative, and they can see the real traffic anyway. With that said, it's really weird that they say 45 GB when your download and fake upload adds up to exactly that.

You don't really need a bandwidth monitor if this is the only program you run at night. Disable and re-enable your network adapter beforehand, then check the traffic counters on Windows' adapter status dialog (ncpa.cpl) the following day. Those should be the real deal.

no, but encryption is turned on. they throttle torrent traffic and my speed goes way up when encryption is turned on, thus they don't or can't decode it.

The obvious way to solve this mystery is fake uploading a few petabytes on Demonoid, then waiting until October. If the ISP bill is fat enough for you to reach the top of a tall bookshelf by standing on it, they were decoding your announces

they don't bill extra bandwidth, once you reach the cap they lower your speed to the ISDN era

My first broadband connection was the equivalent of dual channel ISDN

Of course, that was on 2003. I think you need at least four times as much to have something "usable" now.
