A crime drama that marks the directing debut of "The Departed" screenwriter William Monahan. The film is based on the Ken Bruen novel. In the film, Farrell plays a freshly-paroled London criminal who becomes involved with Knightley's reclusive actress. Winstone joins as a former crime boss, Thewlis will play Knightley's agoraphobic business manager and Friel plays Farrell's sister.

so he doesn't want to be a gangster, but likes to get paid for occasional hitman assignments, guess he forgot to take a look in the dictionary under 'gangster', but then again who can blame him, its not like the libraries are famous for having a gangster-related membership

also, the reclusive actress, while enjoying the solitude benefits of such behavior forgot to study up on flashy gangsters (who don't want to be called as such) not being what one would call a decent/stable life partner, but then again who can blame her, as reclusiveness is not exactly famous for developing useful social skills/experience

as for the movie itself, nothing much stands out, so its likely to be yet another mediocre entertainment product in the near future
