Thread: Network Banning torrent traffic

    Network Banning torrent traffic

It appears that my university network not only bans the downloading of .torrent files but also traffic. I used a magnet link to load a torrent from a public website but my client cannot download any data.

Does anyone know of any workarounds to this?

I tried running transmission & uTorrent.

    Thanks in advance

uTorrent with forced encryption (Preferences -> Bandwidth -> "forced" and untick "allow legacy...") and/or uTP-only mode (bt.transp_disposition 10 in the Advanced settings).

I think it's "Preferences -> BitTorrent -> "forced" (in Protocol Encryption/Outgoing) and untick "allow legacy...")

100% correct. I guess I mixed them up since you can control uTP from the "Bandwidth" panel.

Can you order them in a more fashionable way? For all I know, you're talking about two programs: proxy freegate puff wujie and ssh proxy alkasir.

    Commas for the win...

Freegate and Wujie a.k.a. Ultrasurf won't conceal P2P traffic. They're only for HTTP.

    Two type of proxy:
    http proxy : freegate,puff,wujie .etc
ssh proxy : alkasir , check the link for more Free Shell Accounts - the biggest list on the net :-) - Rankings - All Sites

My personal favor is SSH as my isp block p2p traffic.

That's really sucky. Did you try uTorrent in uTP mode as I posted above, though? That's better than SSH tunneling since you don't put such a high load on the servers.
