    The Departed (2006)
    The Pianist(2002)
    V for Vendetta (2005)
Actually I liked the movies you post with the exception of V for Vendetta ,but I have to say many people like it, like my brother and some friends , but in my opinion is not a great movie just a decent movie, I just like Natalie Portman:

The other ones are great for me ,maybe you like a certain kind of ciné,the work of the directors of that movies is terrific IMO ,I'm fan of Steven Spielberg(Schindler's List),Martin Scorsese(The Departed ),Roman Polanski (The Pianist)

sure, we all have different tastes, expectations & critical viewpoints...actually the more movies (and related stuff) i have seen, the more critical i get considering the next ones i view (having some basis for comparison)

i wouldn't say i'm a fan of any director in particular, since most of them aren't able to keep up a high level of their movie quality (for various reasons), especially in a later period of their activity and usually only a minor part of their filmography has a special kind of sympathy from my perspective

to stay on topic, here are imo crappy movies from the mentioned directors:

    Spielberg
    Munich (2005)
    Schindler's List (1993)
    The Color Purple (1985)
    Duel (1971)

    Scorsese
    The Departed (2006)

    Polanski
just about anything i saw from him except Chinatown (1974)

    Besson
    Joan of Arc (1999)

If most of their work like me maybe 90%), I will say then I'm fan of his/her work ,because it would be really difficult to find a director whom all his movies like me

Most director I would think takes pride in being able to step outside their box and be as different from their previous work, it shows that theyr varied and multi skilled.

I sometimes enjoy it a movie even more knowing that the director has these qualities

slikrapid, have you seen the original version of Departed (2006)?. Infernal Affairs and the sequels, it's pretty good imo.

Actually I don't like movie that contains both 3D/animation character and real live action character mixed together like alvin and the chipmunk, garfield, space jam. Maybe I'm an oldschool. . For the info, those movie are generally has low rating on imdb too.

heh, i got a bit confused here, didn't realize it was a remake, i thought you were referring to an older (cult) action movie with gere & garcia called also Internal Affairs (1990)...anyways, i'll check it out

Mou gaan dou (2002) aka "Infernal Affairs"

then you surely haven't seen these:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) awesome
The Lord of the Rings (1978) likewise, but incomplete

LOL We really have different opinions about movies.Christopher Nolan's Batman are my favourites

Memento is a tricky movie ,but it liked me because it makes me think and you could have different hypothesis about it something like "Mulholland Drive"

It's obviously not a "serious" movie but it wasn't that bad. Made me laugh a few times
