TL is a great place. It has a huge userbase that keeps stuff well-seeded, great speeds, and a lot of content, you'll find old stuff there as well.

I can't think of any disadvantages, seriously. Maybe lack of security.

Ya, the BayTSP infiltration made for some interesting drama last year. Plus, I've seen recent reports on other BT forums of TL users getting infringement letters from their ISP, so if you are concerned about such matters, TL is probably not a great choice.
