mobile , car stereo etc etc are other things on which u listen too ... so i don't think the trend of downloading will ever die
Well probably the downloading trend will never die I agree with you ,but I'm sure it's decreasing and a lot of streaming sites are emerging now,the internet speed is becoming faster with time .There are some streaming sites like Rdio and Spotify that let you listen to your music in offline mode in your cellphone so apparently that is a solution when you want to listen some music without internet connection .

Most streaming sites offer shitty quality though. I got my music via ddl sites back in the day. At least you could check the comment sections there. Getting files directly from zippy or whatever often gives you crappy transcodes from youtube audio streams.

Quality of streaming services will improve and you will be able to download the streaming data , music trackers will become each day more of service only to a niche .

Your cars etc will all be connected to mobile data plans with high speed soon, 10 years will be enough for the death of local copies for most people .

And I fear that day. Local copies ensure that you have something, streaming everything means the provider will have to have the rights, the capacity, that people are interested etc. etc. This could mean the death of all niche/indie stuff.

Ohhh Grooveshark yea ...You like rock here's 200 songs .Or maybe you like pop no worries here's another 200 songs & that's IT!
Anon keeps saying he uses what.cd a lot but never tells us how to cheat there ,thanks anon why are you even using this thread is beyond me I thought you were set, I bet you don't even search for music outside w.cd.(ask anon how he cheats on wc.d he will never tell)
All the sites posted are bad except rutracker & TPB.
    Also use datpiff 4 mixtapes.
Needless to say those streaming sites drop like files besides the fact that they are shit.

I haven't used What.cd in years, for my own reasons. I even gave up all my dupe accounts.

I tried Spotify with the proxy trick back in 2009. It worked initially, and I found it pretty good (some artists weren't available in the catalog, but the streaming itself was lightning-fast, as if I had the files locally), but after some days after, the client gave me a "you aren't from the US" message and refused to log in anymore. What's the status on that now?

I believe nowadays or you pay or you get ads on Spotify . Audio ads, isn't that correct?

And free version still can play only X times a song ?

This isn't about what.cd but i got from ratio locked to power by filling requests mostly and uploading bandcamp stuff.

@anon - All the scenarios you mentioned above are still same mate. But even though an artist not available in the catalog, most probably you can access to their music. When you got that "you aren't from the US" message , reconnect using a VPN ( a simplest way is to use Tunnel Bear), spent few minutes & disconnect from the VPN

Don't try to block the audio ads , I don't think it is technically possible mates. But you can mute ads . Third party programs (Blockify for Windows/PC and Smutefy for Mac) have been developed to mute ads while Spotify is running.

I visited Grooveshark today, and was greeted by this

It was a great service, helped me discover lots of good songs, and will be missed.

I need to find another place where to get single tracks now.

That's indeed very sad that they closed, used to browse it regularly for quick song listening.
