Just curious what's uncut!
Just curious what's uncut!
Google is thy friend...
They seem alike but are not reallyUncut means the director has not cut anything from the film so it is the full version.Sometimes Directors will cut some parts of the movie to improve the flow of the movie or some scenes which don't take the story forward...
Unrated just means that someone not associated with the film has not put a rating on it.It means parts that could not be included in order to get a low enough rating to be shown in theatres are now included in the movie
lol, I know what uncut means, I meant which scenes in movie are uncut!
Im not really going to watch this shit movie.
What makes you say that? Movie wasn't that bad!
no its not, its a greedy corporation that wants to get its fingers in anything they see as profitable, seems they just can't get enough, so its just a matter of time until they show their true ugly faceGoogle is thy friend...
as for the difference between unrated and uncut, they largely overlap in practice, with the latter being a better choice due to the ambiguity of the former
absolutely off topic: I LOL'd at both comments on google
on topic: Movie isn't bad depending on your perception about the first make, that is if you have seen it already imo.
spoilers ahead...
notice how the americans are portrayed as quite arrogant (disturbing people around, demanding attention, raising kids in a machine-like fashion), ignorant (don't bother to learn the local customs, language, think that old stuff is useless) & self-centered (the mother didn't even notice that her kid has a swell covering half of his face, everything else seems more important)
the kid conveniently gets a helping hand straight away as they arrived, suddenly knows how to speak and understands chinese, has a huge/massive ego, is deceitful/dishonest whenever in a tight or potentially embarrassing situation, feels awkward being with his parent, the jacket scene nr.1 is just stupid (any parent with a grain of brain would have solved this years ago) and the nr.2 is even more so (the first 'training'/disciplining), gets his girlfriend a present with his picture on it?
jackie chan looks so silly/lost its a disgrace to any martial arts master (the original mr. han was well portrayed, had an aura of wisdom) and they had to add some idiotic 10-second magic flame healing to his skills, also, how about a martial arts teacher that forces his student to practice even if the student doesn't want it or one that doesn't explain anything at all?
the community is excessively competitive (from the kids playing basketball to old people playing ping-pong), no one stops the kids from fighting in an overcrowded park, kids fight like adults with unbelievable moves (with equally exaggerated punch/kick sounds), they are not even punished/warned for an incident in school but merely sent away as if nothing happened
and all this just keeps piling up as the movie progresses...overall, very unconvincing attempt at exploitation-by-remake (lets not even go into the whole karate/kung-fu unnecessarily created confusion - for some reason, probably political, it had to be china)

In response to my earlier google post
Anyway I saw the movie recently and it was whack...No chemistry at all...As corny as expected...
A few plot holes like
What happened with Mei Ling's audition???did she get into the Music Academy she was trying to get into???Also what about the other friends Dre had there??There were a few throwaway characters that show up and then disappear for no reason. Especially "Harry" at the beginning of the film.
btw slikrapid,
did you change your name??i always thought it was silkrapid ...
if they added an explanation for that it would surely pass the 3h mark what they showed was that her appearance in the movie was just to drive the infatuation/crush part of the story...and to be the reason for fighting in the first place...and so that the kid can show how irresistible his charms/braids work on girlsWhat happened with Mei Ling's audition
he was exposed as a coward (the basketball fight), so the kid dumped him immediately, for how can he allow himself to be seen with a wimp like thatEspecially "Harry" at the beginning of the film.
an epic saga about a misunderstood kid whom everyone called the karate kid, yet he was skilled in kung-fu
nope, others do the same mistake from time to timebtw slikrapid,
did you change your name??i always thought it was silkrapid ...
Just watched it yesterday and yes, they are kinda the same, but also very different. IMHO I liked the first one better.
What kinda bothers me is that the movie was written by the makers of Kung Fu Panda and in the "Karate" Kid they taught Kung Fu aswell.
Not to be in a rant or anything, but since I have taken interest in Japanese and Chinese culture for many years, I have to point out that Karate does not equal to Kung Fu .
Sure, it doesn't matter to the regular viewer who just wants to see the movie, but still...
I do agree with you on that one! I too don't get it why is called Karate Kid, when he teaches the kid King Fu!
