In search of big english boards

    Hello guys

    One question:
Do you know big english boards with general topics like the german Gulli Board. I am searching for this, because I want to improve my english skills. Please no filessharing boards or something like that.

    Thanks and regards

can't help you with boards, never had the need, but you might try some english learning software & work your way up through the levels: beginner-intermediate-advanced before trying the boards, since its always better to have some (learned) basic language skills as opposed to trial/error or guessing modus operandi

my basics are the 8 years with english in school. At home I have a english course from Langenscheidt, but I did not used it since I have bought it. I am too lazy. So I had the idea to learn english on the internet through boards or something like that. On boards I must read many posts and I can answer with posts. I think this is the best method to improve my english skills.

The larger english-based forums are pretty much littered with forum trolls. The line between expert-level discussion and tongue-in-cheek sarcasm is painfully thin, I'm afraid. Personally I think SB-I is pretty good about maintaining civility and being generally welcoming to anyone.

About the only forum I'd recommend that hasn't been in a link already provided is barbelith.com. Not as many people post there as they used to, but there's plenty of stuff to read and draw from.
