I was 16 when this thread was created. I'll be 25 next month... it gets you thinking. This all seems like so long ago. There was so much going on here in 2009.

On 2009 I met someone who claimed to have more than a thousand active private tracker accounts, complete with Excel spreadsheet to track usernames, passwords, last login date and traffic stats. And during the golden days of invite trading (2007-10), it was fairly common to see massive lists of "offers" being published.

This is the Internet. It's not a matter of if there are people insane enough to spend massive amounts of time on something like this, but when you will find them.

    Damn

To be honest, I strongly agree with you. Maybe I used to be one of those. Well, not at that scale for damn sure. But wasting time online on something like that is really stupid and that's why everyday I feel crap regretting being used to doing this almost every day all the time. There are too many stuff to do (specially online) that are more worthy. Unless this brings money, that is totally another story

Over a thousand ? wow that is massive number to mention. Probably that guy/girl is very addicted to the trackers network. But i assume he/she use RDP or something that runs 24h nonstop to keep seeding and downloading balance. well, there is always sky above the sky.

I have mixed feelings on the matter. I don't particularly regret "collecting trackers" as it was fun (in its own way) and I had no bigger responsibilities. But there is absolutely no chance I'd waste time on it now. Even back then I had my limits: I never chased those ultra-rare sites since reviews clearly showed them to be a disappointment, nor had more than ~40 active accounts at any given time.

Most of the hardcore traders made money selling on the side. Offer and demand. The "elite" stuff like HDBits.org, Exigo or WDMA trackers have a price tag in the low triple digits each. I always opposed invite selling and still do, but when you factor that most sellers come from countries where $20 is "a lot" of money (and mine isn't exactly better), I can understand why they do it.

By the way, the 1000+ trackers guy was yocto, sysop of storethe.net. You should do a little reading on what happened to that tracker, it's a fun story
