    GMail implement SMS activation

So today I faced a problem; I wanted to create a new GMail account for use at signing up at a tracker. I always use GMail because they hardly filter tracker emails. Somewhere within the past few weeks they seem to have implemented an SMS activation system. When you click sign up, they present you with a page requesting a mobile phone number, belonging to the country you chose.

Luckily, they don't do this for all countries. So, can anyone help list the countries which do not support such SMS activation?

More info can be found here:

I've found that St. Kitts and Nevis are not supported.

Just clicked signup and it's all like it's been before, so Brazil don't have this.

Sorry, I didn't make this clear, or didn't even state it, and think I may have given some the wrong idea. Google base whether to use the SMS system using the country you chose whilst filling in the details when you create an email address, not by detecting the nationality of your IP.

I chose Argentina in the country drop-down box, so it's a sure bet.

Is it just me or GMail now asks you for a mobile phone number regardless of which country you choose?

Nope, i registered an account to register on a ptracker some few seconds back and didn't get any phone number thing being asked. Annoying part is that Gmail is now like yahoo where even your imaginations are already taken as login IDs.

I tried to make a new mailbox for VIPMusic today, and regardless of which country I chose, I'd have to enter a mobile phone number after submitting the form. Ended up using FastMail.

Maybe it detects your ip when you log in. Yes i can say it detects the IP when you open google to register because last time I opened google.com it was in my local language and it had the google.com.xx added to the url eventhough I didnt type that out. So it may be asking that depending on the IP you are registering with I guess

Yes, that's possible. Anyone knows some proxies from Tokelau?
