Damn, this like slow israeli Palestine shit all over !
tried to watch, got bored after 1h
Watched to the end.
Sad shit without any meaning or plot.
For me scorsese died :frown:
Cinema is dead, and definitely not because of Scorsese.
the cast is good, the scenes are good but it lacks something ,maybe it was a good movie back when dicaprio winned an oscar for the movie in wich killed a bear with bear hands  but not for 2023
in 2023 it feels like bindge watching Peaky Blinders, wich i haven't seen until now and now it make me think why the f this tv show was so high rated
I think DiCaprio's greatest frustration was not having won his best actor Oscar for 2013 Wolf of Wall Street.
they where other times ,those years where the last in cinema
if DiCaprio was a young actor after 2015, even a secondary role no longer catched
Wolf of Wall Street in 2020 became She-Wolf of Wall Street 100%
so it should be satisfied with what he has achieved until "the message" started to run hollywood
after, outside Scorsese is kinda shadow banned on casting also
I choose to watch this because Leo is one of the many stars I love watching. However, I lost interest after that last sister is murdered. I believe it was because the movie was too long to keep the viewers engrossed.
is not much else outhere , since the rest don't have the budgets
i could mention however the indian tv show sacred games
in the movie categ notable one is i think SISU https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14846026/
I'll just namedrop a few local ones...
Esperando la carroza (1985)
Pizza, birra, faso (1997)
Nueve reinas (2000)
Un oso rojo (2002)
Memorias del saqueo (2004)
Iluminados por el fuego (2005)
El secreto de sus ojos (2009)
Un cuento chino (2011)
Relatos salvajes (2014)
Plata dulce (1982)
76 89 03 (2000)
Un peso, un dólar (2006)
Edit: added another entry and rearranged the list. The last three are comedic criticism of the social reality and economic policies during the times they are set in, and will likely require you to do some reading to be truly understood, but are still worth watching.
Nice list, Anon.
Argentina's cinema usually has good original ideas. I can second on "Nueve Reinas" and "Un Conto Chino" as good entertainment cinema from Argentina, as is the original version of Vanilla Sky, much better than the Hollywood one: "Abre los Ojos".
These are entertaining movies that are very nice to watch for those just want a popcorn and spend some time.
But if looking into more deep movies, more drama or more shocking cinema, Argentina has a lot more to offer, specially during the 2000s decade, as do Uruguay.
EDIT:
Dropping some more options of simple entertainment from around the world to answer DarkSaibot (I am skipping more "dense" movies, which I prefer, and trying to choose things more similar with mainstream cinema):
Nr 10 (2021) - Netherlands
Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios (1988) - Spain
Ema (2019) - Chile
Hejter (2020) - Poland
Lola Rennt (1998) - Germany
Good Bye Lenin! (2003) - Germany
Parasite (2019) - South Korea
Magical Girl (2014) - Spain
Syk Pike (2022) - Norway
These are some movies that can be very enjoyable for people used to just mainstream media, came to my head as the reference is Hollywood nothing too bizarre or hard to get on them, I believe anyone can have fun with some of them.
The film industry (and fine arts) are partially subsidized here, but even so we can't compete against Hollywood budgets as DarkSaibot said, meaning we've had to adopt a blue ocean strategy of sorts.
Darín is an excellent actor and doesn't get involved with bad projects. The fact Hollywood made its own remakes of "Nueve reinas" and "El secreto de sus ojos" may confirm this :richter:Quote:

Can second these. I'd also like to make an addendum to my previous list with two more entries that I haven't watched yet but have high ratings.Quote:
Lola Rennt (1998) - Germany
Good Bye Lenin! (2003) - Germany
Parasite (2019) - South Korea
El ciudadano ilustre (2016)
Argentina, 1985 (2022)
You're welcome, mate. Guillermo Francella surprised the entire country by proving he could do more than just comedy. His protagonic role in "El clan" (2015) would later give us a reminder.
