When did I become so bitter :wtinfoil:
Yes, I was so young. My last writings as a caveman.
I never got that account sadly and could not use vuze as I had a 233mhz computer at that time. Times were rough, money was scarce, barely enough for food.
I had received a bitme invite on the 18th and was very very happy. My first bitme invite. On the 19th of May my father died and had a huge impact on my life. Amongst the pain, had to get rid of the account as it made me sick.
I've been working ever since.
Electricity returned today (finally!) and after/while catching up with my real work, I was able to test the last two.
My floppy drive seems broken, as HDAT can't read anything from it, no matter what. Ironically, I brought my old one, which I replaced in the past believing it was broken, and it actually works! That was nice to see.
Wiring the external DVB antenna to the wireless NIC worked wonders. PENetwork reports a 90% signal strength for an access point roughly 10m away from me, with a thick wall in between (of course, "90%" is relative - I'd need to try Wi-Fi Hopper to read and compare dBm values). Pinging the LAN gateway revealed no problems. Actual Internet browsing was shaky, but that could be due to the connection itself being not so good... would also need to try a known stable hotspot.
What if it was December 31st, 2009 :shifty:
Anyway, I don't care. I like who I am because of it. - Everything2.com
Why did the account make you sick? Did getting it one day before your father's death (may he rest in peace) create a negative association?
Me and my family also went through hard times many years ago. Watching my parents try to make ends meet with a limited amount of money that could also devaluate overnight was a fucking nightmare (thankfully I was perhaps too young to realize what truly was going on). Looking back now, it still was a nightmare, but one that balances my outlook of things and helps me appreciate what I do have.
So it turns out hellman is a cutiepie in real life.
Yes. Beeing so happy one day and the next... I just didn't want anything to remind me of that day.Quote:

And that is a very important lesson to learn.Quote:
