The party was set for 23rd December, all-day event. It was a freezing morning, the temperature was -10C accompanied by a horrifying blizzard. We arrived at company headquarters at about 7:00AM. The bus was half an hour late due to the weather conditions. The boss was angry, the employees as well.
At 7:45AM we embark for our destination. We arrived there at about 10:30AM. The site was in construction. Our boss had a ranch there, but decided to build a few hotels on the property. We were directed to a nearly completed log house. It was nearly complete because it had no exterior doors or windows, they were covered by plastic sheets bound together using duct tape. On top of that, only half the toilets were working.
Once inside the log house, we were required to sign for presence. This would later on be used for our Christmas bonuses. You see, this company had a policy in which if you were on their own: supported their ideas, laughed when they said a joke, etc. then you would be rewarded. Thus, if you went to the party, you would be reward with a Christmas bonus.
The house was freezing. The personnel in charge was made up of employees. The party started at 11:00AM...
Woot woot. Can't wait for Master Razor's Untold Story S01E03!
The party started at 11:00AM. We were all directed to our seats at the table. I was seated with the cream of the crop. That includes the board of directors, their secretaries and other important people. The employees promoted to waiters started to serve the food and drinks. Ironically, it was much easier to get alcohol rather than food there. Due to the fact that it was still cold, most started the meal with a drink to warm them up. By 15:00PM, 70% of the invitees were near drunk. The music started to get louder and louder. The people were angrier, becoming more aggressive. They wanted to go home but could not because the boss was watching... and waiting. I stayed with the good crowd that didn't drink but I was very angry myself, and at that moment I was also weak and stupid. The night was coming and I wanted to beat up everyone at that party. God knows I could've of done but for some reason I've chosen a different path...
It was dark outside. I was bored, annoyed, and tired and due to this I started drinking. The Christmas bonus was given sometime after 6:00PM if I recall correctly. Each person was called to come and collect their bonus. The bonus was composed of food stamps, about 10% of salary and a Christmas gift package composed of a bottle of red wine, sponge cake, chocolates, and the like. The gift packages were all expired. Immediately after this, most the employees went out side and unpacked their gift packages and began to threw them. Some of them threw with direction (like security guards, other workers, etc.) and some threw them randomly. A riot was starting and I was half-drunk. I was made aware of the riot above by what my colleagues described after the holidays. At that time, I had no idea this was happening.
At the same time I was at the dining table with the girls. We were talking about stupid things. After a few moments we went outside to further discuss whatever the f.. we were discussing. It must of been something exciting as this discussion took more than 1 hour. We started walking by the nearby grove. And kept talking...
The front of the compound was taken over by the drunken people that started a riot between them and the security personnel. They started throwing rocks, glass bottles, trash cans, seats, everything they could get their hands on. This went on for quite a bit, but later on the fight moved to the back of the compound where the girls and myself were. After a while the security guards got a hold of the situation by using brute force. As the number of brawlers were decreasing, the truly stupid ones began to run from the guards. Of course that made the guards chase after them. One individual ran towards my location. I was sitting with my back towards the house, so I did not see them coming. I was talking to the girls, they suddenly got up and ran and I followed them. The guard, the brawler, myself and the girls were running after each other. I have no idea what happened to the other 2 guys, but in the end I was alone with her running through the woods.
The bus finally came at 10:00PM to take us home. From what I've been told, when they got off the bus most of them were on walking on all fours.
The secretary's boss insisted that one of their drivers took me home. He did part of the task - he left me about 10Km or so away from my home. I walked the rest of the way, but I was very dizzy and anything could've happened. From that day I never drank again.
And that's the whole story.
I wanted to quit from that place. Tried multiple times, but they just would not let me. For example, from the incident above I wanted to quit but they insisted on teaching me a lesson so they reduced my paycheck by 20% for 3 consecutive months. I remember saying "I'm leaving" and their response was "You're not going anywhere" .
Coincidentally, I found this image some days ago, and I think it is relevant here.

That is so sad to hear, man.
But why you are stuck there? Did you sign on a contract or something that you can't just get over it before 3 years?
I mean 3 years isn't a short period of time. It's your life, you deserve to be happy for doing what you love and therefore you can love what you do.
We all are like a family over here. So, you aren't alone, bro. At least we can always wish you good luck and encourage you :top:
