Today I've decided to give Linux mint a try and till now, it's fast and very easy to use.
I have tried ubuntu but i went back to XP because of the resource-hog unity, now I use Linux mint 17 rebecca with xfce DE and it's better than XP.

being using xfce elaborates it all :D, I have a really bad combination of hardware. but i tried it once with ubuntu and i was like .. Wow :top:

Do you use Compiz, Seal? What are your thoughts on it?
It certainly has that wow factor, but when I first tried it a few years back, I was certainly impressed but didn't find it to be very user friendly. I ended up turning it off again.

The only thing I don't like about compiz is the amount of options. Speaking for myself only, it's just a tad too much. I think what's not so user-friendly is the amount of hot-keys utilized. This is a result of too many options available. I guess it's Linux's way of 'wowing' the crowd. But it is cool, though when worked with the Mate DE. I know, can be used with Gnome as well. :tongue:

my main issue is that the wow-factor makes it slower. It takes a while for the animation to finish while all I wanted to do was swap to the other window as quickly as possible :P the default swap is blazing fast.
That being said, it is cool :lol:
