Windows 8 ist unbeliebt und die Verkaufszahlen sind im Keller. Als Reaktion arbeitet Microsoft nun an einer neuen Strategie: Ein kostenloses Windows, basierend auf der Suchmaschine Bing, soll neue Kunden zu dem ungeliebten Betriebssystem locken.

Nun will Microsoft das floppende System offenbar mit einer kostenlosen Version retten. Das Tech-Magazin „The Verge“ berichtete, dass die Software-Firma an einer kostenlosen Version bastelt, einem Gratis-Windows, das sich vor allem auf die Suchmaschine Bing stützt. „Windows 8.1 mit Bing“ soll das experimentelle Projekt heißen.
Microsoft unter Druck
Wie die Seite schreibt, soll die Version die wichtigsten Windows-Programme beinhalten und könnte werbefinanziert sein. Damit sollen besonders Windows 7–Nutzer von einem kostengünstigen oder gar kostenlosen Upgrade überzeugt werden. Ziel sei es, möglichst viele Benutzer zu Windows 8 zu bringen. Es wird außerdem spekuliert, dass das mobile Betriebssystem „Windows Phone“ kostenlos werden könnte, damit neben Nokia auch weitere Hersteller auf Microsoft umstellen.
Es wird es für Microsoft immer schwieriger, sich gegen die Konkurrenz zu behaupten. Mit Android dominiert Google den mobilen Markt. Auch Apple bietet seine Betriebssysteme OS und iOS kostenlos an, verdient jedoch an Geräten und Apps. Gerade für die Hersteller billiger Computer wird Windows zunehmend zum Kostenfaktor. Deswegen vergünstigte Microsoft vor kurzem bereits seine Lizenz-Preise für die Entwickler günstiger Netbooks und Laptops von 50 auf 15 Dollar pro Gerät.

Das will ich noch nicht einmal geschenkt haben, aber hoffe für M$ dass man daraus gelernt hat und sie ihr zukünftiges OS wieder PC tauglicher gestalten ähnlich einer W7 version nur halt moderner und den Anforderungen entsprechend...
