I was wondering if it is still worth it to use IRC these days? Are people still using it to chat or is it a way just to collect some points in trackers or forums?
I always found IRC to be a much easier way to communicate rather than forums and other social platforms. Last time I used an IRC for chat purposes was back in 2001.
Yeah i use it when i have to go to the disabled channel on trackers :biggrin:

Hackers and sceners still use it. I used it from 2000 to 2002 (and more recently when we had that IRC channel here), but I preferred meeting people on other places like forums or Yahoo Games and then adding them to MSN.
me too for a simple reason: control. if you know the guys who run the irc server (or even running your own) you have better privacy than with any other chat system.Quote:
