Two accelerator proxies - slimbrowse and fasTun

    Hello everyone,

I was browsing the net recently and stumbled upon these two proxies. Here's how they describe themselves.

Welcome to fasTun - free Web Accelerator service with HTTP compression (ad blocker, anonymizer). fasTun will cut down your Internet expenses at 2-10 times!

    Now fasTun is able to:
    • Compress HTTP traffic using the GZIP algorithm
    • Optimize web pages code (HTTP/CSS), thus reducing their size
    • Compress images in PNG, GIF and JPEG formats with a feature of quality choice
    • Provide full anonymity by hiding your real IP address

What is slimbrowse good for ?

In case you are paying a fee based on the amount of data you transfere, which is typical for mobile internet connections, like 3G or GPRS or UMTS or CDMA OR when using a dial up connection via modem. You will immediately reduce the monthly bill from Your ISP because of less traffic consumption.

In case You have an “Unlimited Rate”, You might choose another tariff with a slower speed and lower costs, without sacrificing reponse times.

In case of a narrowband connection (e.g. dialup modem) You will enjoy faster response times. And because You will get Your work done faster You will also save on connection-time and costs.

You have to create an account on their sites, then change your browser's proxy settings (it's explained on their homepages). fasTun sends your real IP (despite its claim about anonymity), but slimbrowse doesn't. Their servers are located in Germany and neither can tunnel SSL connections.

If you have a slow connection, or must use one for whatever reason, these could help you.

By using logic I cant believe that using a proxy can fasten anything.

Caching and compression. They're the same tactics "high-speed dialup" providers use.

Okay that makes sense. But its still nonsene to use 2 accelerator proxies. I mean if the data is compressed and cached, how can a second proxy doing the same thing fasten it?

Using both is stupid, obviously - you have to pick one
