    SpeedyFox | Speed Firefox up

Mozilla Firefox is a fast browser, but with the lapse of time it starts working much slowly. The reason is fragmentation of profile databases. A free tool SpeedyFox is designed specially to resolve that problem. The method used in SpeedyFox is 100% safe for your profile (e.g. bookmars, passwords, etc), it's well documented and tested on many computers.

Sounds good. I'm a bit wary to install anything not listed on the official addon pages though.

    Glad you all liked it!

I have read that the speed difference will be higher if you keep your cache, cookies, history, etc. across restarts, since that causes more database fragmentation.

Nobody, you can try it inside a sandbox

Well, profiles are fragmented when you use Firefox. If you haven't configured it to delete traces when closing, I'd say you run this app once a day, before you start FF.

FasterFox makes some tweaks to internal settings such as pipelining and paint time so that you can surf faster. This app defragment's Firefox's databases so that the browser itself feels "smoother".

    What are you saying here?

You mean that one has to delete cookies and/or cache upon closing the browser, then its not necessary to run this daily prior to useing FF??

    or....

if not clearing cookies and cache, then yu use Speedy??

I meant that if you have set Firefox to clear private data upon closing, there's less fragmentation. So it'd be still good to run SpeedyFox, but not as often as if you kept the cache and cookies across restarts.

since you probably use firefox on daily basis a good rule of a thumb might be to use this tool only when you experience prolonged lags in firefox - using it on every firefox startup might be overkill

still this one doesn't solve the memory consumption (more like hogging) that easily goes over 300MB

Not every Firefox start up, just once a day.
