Thread: Run a second FF-Portable instance

Suppose you want to use a Firefox portable on a machine where an other instance of Firefox is already running.

To enable this second Firefox instance (FF portable), go to the the portable folder of Firefox, and go to the Source folder (Other -> Source). Here there is the FirefoxPortable.ini file. Copy it on the main portable folder and open it with a text editor, find the line “AllowMultipleInstances” and toggle it’s value from false to true. Normally, it should work.

What is the purpose of the 'no-remote' portion of the command??
Is this portion of the command directed towards the user's computer itself as opposed to starting up a firefox profile from a remote computer??

It tells the Firefox executable "don't pass commands to a remote (existing) instance, but start your own".

The first instance should not be run with -no-remote since that can cause odd behavior, but all further ones should.
