No, it is just a tool to back them up.
I thought you meant something like that to save them before you format it, sorry I must have misunderstood you.

I remembered if you aren't using a master password, the ones Opera stores can be backed up by copying the wand.dat file.
Personally, I don't let my browser keep passwords anymore, I use KeePass for trackers and my brain for important sites

You can try this,but there's a problem.No support for Opera.

Regarding Firefox, just copy Firefox folder in ApplicationData and then after reinstallation of the OS, paste it where it was before :)

if your HDD failed the only way to recover, say Opera's password is to use File recovery tools (GetDataBack for NTFS for example) or to pay a specialist to do that and recover the wand.dat that contains the passwords (again only for Opera, I don't know the files that stores passwords for the rest of the browsers).
that's the only way to recover ANYTHING from post formatted PC or failed HDD
I dont think he means he needs to recover lost data due to formatting. I think jack means even after formating the disc how can he easily restore passwords to his fav sites.
