    * disable Windows Search indexing, reset its cache and turn off the service _before_ uninstalling it
    * Set the Windows boot splash animation to "basic":
    bcdedit /set bootux basic
(and for the resume object and others using bootice)

    * These unhide DIPM/HIPM and a few processor power management values. There are more interesting hidden settings. The CLSIDs are listed in ProcPowerMgmtWin7.docx and these values are stored on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Power\PowerSettings

It may somewhat sqeeze some performance from your OS but in the log run it is a very bad idea.
Windows services are interconnected with each other; sometimes turning one off causes more services to stop working. Even the most meaningless service can cause an important service to stop working.

Cosmetic twekas, appearance and useability are all good but useless. You save more time and less stress if you just adjust to the OS, rather than adjusting to OS to you. I used to use thousands of tweaks, and now I realize they were all doing more harm than good. Trust me on this.

UAC, you do not want this disabled. Some programs depend on UAC to work correctly. Old XP-based software cannot start as admin/or start at all without UAC. And one more important point: UAC does not work if your admin account does not have a password. So UAC enabled + admin account with no password = NO UAC at all.

The only tweaks I apply to all my systems are:
    REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v Hidden /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
    REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v ShowSuperHidden /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
    REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced" /v HideFileExt /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

... and since I can remember, I've always been different that others, and I've never been on the majority side.

Look, you have to compromise when you do this stuff. I found this particular compromise to be acceptable and stable for my usage, and despite having a multitude of programs and files always open with 4 GB of RAM, my computer is never slow.

    * Removed ArpCacheLife (turns out it's ineffective in Vista and above; see this) and commented out IGMPLevel=0x0 (it breaks anything requiring multicast, like UPnP port forwarding) from the Tcpip tweaks. If you've already added these and don't want to reboot, run this.

    Code:
netsh interface ipv4 set global mldlevel=all
    reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters" /v "ArpCacheLife" /f
    * Added a few stack hardening options to the Tcpip tweaks
    * Added "disable Windows Search indexing...", "After running TCP Optimizer..." and "Increase the ARP cache timeout..." to new tweaks.txt

Carryout out a "ReadyBoost" can cause a system crash. I faced it some time ago while on a Virtual Machine. Some of your tweaks do look good. However, I'm skeptical about using them given the fact the crash.
Thank you anyway. Do you happen to know of a tweak to speed up boot time without disabling the antivirus program?

    Things I've tried modifying are:
    Application Services (helpers)
System BIOS or Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI)
    Startup Programs
    Windows Registry
    System Services
    Boot Manager

These have caused many crashes with a slight difference.

Disabling the ReadyBoost driver will cause blue screens, and should not be done. Disabling it via group policy is okay. I did the latter because I don't use this functionality (would rather keep my SD card slot free), and ReadyBoost writes a file called readyboostperftest.tmp to any removable media whose speed it hasn't assessed yet.

    Things I've tried modifying are:
Set the Windows boot splash animation to "basic"

That one alone gave me a significant reduction, with no drawbacks other than losing eye candy. If you have tons of programs set to run upon startup... well, don't. The best way to improve booting times, however, is to get an SSD. You're not going to believe the difference when you see it.
