IPTorrents soon to ban all Vuze/Azureus versions
____________________________________________________________________________________
I just stumbled upon this at iptorrents home section:
Quote:
2009-09-23 - Clients
Banned Torrent Clients
Dear Members,
Following the recent upgrade to our new source code, the following torrent clients are now banned.
ABC
All BitComet up to v5.x
Bitbuddy
BitLord 1.1
BitSpirit 3.3.2.100
BitTorrent++
Limewire (all versions)
Nova Torrent
Older Azureus versions
Rufus
Shareaza
TorrentStorm
Transmission Below V 1.34
utorrent1.7.1
utorrent 1.7.5 (fake version)
The following torrent clients are permitted
µTorrent 1.8.2
BitTorrent 6.0
Halite 0.3.1
KDE3 (KTorrent 2.2.4)
Transmission
uTorrent 1.6.1
Deluge 0.5.9.3
Not recommended
We do not Recommend Azureus/Vuze at all and very soon Azureus/Vuze will be banned at IPT ( all versions ) ! ! !
UTorrent 1.7.7 - Several other trackers have banned this client for reporting bad data to the tracker.
please avoid this version - it may lead to problems for you if we have to ban it.
Beta versions may appear on this list as tested, but they are not recommended,
if you use a beta version and your stats are not updated properly then dont complain to us.
Stick with the tried and trusted releases and you should not have any problems.
This message will be updated as and when other torrents clients are added to either of the lists.
|
We still have the ability to use client spoofing, so I guess it's not a major issue.

Hehe.I don't care about it because i use utorrent+waffles method, but banning a client because you can cheat with it is stupid.I understand banning bitcomet, but Vuze....
Give me a break

LL already banned Vuze due to "excessive scrape requests"

Well, uTorrent Multi mods don't work at Waffles. If you mean RM with uTorrent emulation and the Waffles method, then yes

Scrape Verification
Can anyone do a little research and get the scrape results for any valid scrape request from that site? I'd love to know if they are actually including the "min_request_interval" key in their results, which Azureus has been obeying since 2005. Scrape - AzureusWiki

Obviously, if they are missing the min_request_interval key, they didn't try very hard before banning. :) Sometimes I've seen min_request_interval in the wrong part of the response tree. Other times I've seen the value in minutes instead of seconds (ie. the response returns 120, the tracker owner thinks that's 2 hours, and Azureus scrapes 2 minutes later).

I'm not at IPT, but this was the reason LL gave for banning Vuze:
Quote:
Ok Vuze Ban....and reason as to the ban
1,200 peers using Vuze - - Results of hit's to site in time frame 25,000 announces/scrape calls
10,000 peers using Utorrent - -Resulte of hits to site in same time frame 5000 announce/scrape call
As can be seen Vuze traffic was 5 times higher than that of Utorrent with only a 12% the users of utorrent ??????

I'll supply you with caps, hold on.

Here's a scrape result from LL:
Code:
GET /scrape.php?passkey=********************************&info_hash=%af%1b%22%dcf%96W%a9%3d%de%8aQ%0ay%9d%bc%cf%1c%a1%5d HTTP/1.1

User-Agent: uTorrent/1840(16442)
HTTP/1.1 200 OK

Server: Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS)
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.1.6

Content-Type: text/plain

Seems they didn't try hard

it's absolutly true...vuze announces depending on the seeder/leecher stats.
e.g. you have a torrent with only one seeder.
vuze would override the default announce time (30minutes), and would send every ~5 minutes a new announce

Indeed, Azureus will adjust the suggested interval that the tracker sends back (the 'interval' field, and in my experience it often adjusts it upwards), but it should never go below the minimal interval that the tracker sends back (the 'min interval' field). Since 'min interval' is optional, not all trackers return it. BitTorrentSpecification - TheoryOrg
So, I guess my second request is to see announce results for these trackers as well.

that's the problem. only a few of the private trackers send a min_intervall (and i am sure, ipt isn't one of them).

Sorry for the delay, I was burning some DVDs. I have PMed you LL's reply - they don't respect &compact=1, so peer IPs are sent in a human-readable format.
