    Vuze uTP support plugin

"uTP aims to mitigate network congestion caused by poorly configured BitTorrent clients"(TF citation). It was introduced in uTorrent 2.
Yep it's the time for Azureus/Vuze to support the new cool ut feature the uTP. Vuze is(will be - plugin is still in dev stage)back in business to get(true)decent ratio/transfer.

    Update uTP 0.2.6 (08.10.10)

    For OSX users - 0.2.6 (08.10.10)

if you are willing to know everything about uTP(yes wiki is last resort):

What forced Vuze devs to make uTP plugin:

so this basically slows down the downloads while you surf or check mail so the latter actions can be done quickly, right?
    Thanks

so this would only work if everyone else has it right?
they should implant it by default.
    Thanks

As said before Dev stage, even forums has no info about it. It is only possible to see it if you watch developer area at the moment. It's supposed to be tested if it really works, so more than anything else feedback is needed.

its good that Vuze is pluginable. Vuze will always have more features than others if those same features can just be plugged in. But its a memory hog thats all

Yoco to get familiar with the concept read wiki info in first post. To get it even shorter, it is to manage bandwidth more efficient and rational way.
µTP is an upgraded lightweight BitTorrent protocol, introduced in v2 of our popular µTorrent client, that makes efficient use of bandwidth while reducing network problems. For the past several months we have been polishing our implementation of µTP in µTorrent, resulting in several minor upgrades of the client as we figure out how to make it perform optimally under an incredibly wide range of scenarios.
    citation of BT blog

It also disriminates clients without uTP feature - this was the reason fot ut 2+ was banned on some of trackers, so is definitely better to have it.

Memory hog is java's virtual machine fault not plugins fault. Java is drawback but there is bright side java means most wide OS support and full disclousure due to open source as it is script language. uTorrent is also getting plugins in 3.0 edition and Linux support.
    Thanks

although my preference is Vuze of uT, stats do say that uT is in the lead for marketshare (conundrum: but its free lol), I would think this is due to its tiny footprint compared to Vuze with similar featureset

I wonder if this plugin makes Vuze act like a client that DOES support uTP natively and will utrorrent discriminate it then?
    Thanks

most likely like miDHT - like it was native support.

Yes uTP plugin most probably works the same way as mlDHT(mainline -bittorrent/utorrent dht plugin)does.

    ---------- Post added at 22:28 ---------- Previous post was at 16:45 ----------

One more thing uTP plugin requires Vuze 4.5.0.4 or newer to function properly - ie green light in plugin tab in all older versions it turns red.
