Thread: Does seeding a torrent a friend downloaded count as cheating?

My friend and I are on the same tracker. I'm fairly new and trying to build my ratio legit. My friend recently downloaded a 100+GB file and I made a copy of it to my seedbox. If I download the .torrent file and seed the file under my account, will I get in trouble/banned for not showing up in the snatchlist as having downloaded it but seeding 100% of the file?

Sorry if this is a n00b question but I searched around and couldn't find a similar post. I just wanted to know if this was something I could do to help boost my ratio first without using any cheat applications.

I think most trackers accept the cross seeding approach.
