    underground caves are the last unexplored territory?
    not quite, since a certain amount of now underground (and somewhat shallow coastal underwater areas) areas have previously been visited and inhabited by humans during early human history - around and before the widely known early civilizations, this knowledge has for years been systematically intentionally hidden and ignored, yet during the last century or so many usually independent explorers have found numerous evidence about it, though this kind of information has trouble finding its way into the controlled mainstream and prescribed history according to the established authorities (since they collide with the dogmatized historical time-line & current officially supported theories), furthermore many sites have been meticulously cleaned of movable/removable evidence (for example: thousands of skeletons that disappeared shortly after their discovery in caves underneath malta if i remember it correctly)

    as for the movie, it has potential, especially regarding atmosphere/scenery, cameron has kept a satisfactory quality level of directing in the recent avatar, not to mention he has made some good thematically related movies in the past, namely the abyss & titanic - on the other hand movies dealing with caves are somewhat hard to direct so we'll see how it'll work out

    the name sanctum does sound a bit puzzling hinting at the underground being a sacred place for some reason, its (historical) dwellers perhaps?

    for good Cameron movies see:
    Avatar (2009)
    Titanic (1997)
    True Lies (1994)
    Terminator 1&2 (1984,1991)
    The Abyss (1989)
    Aliens (1986)

    for good movies with Ioan Gruffudd see:

    The Secret of Moonacre (2008) decent
    King Arthur (2004)
    just about any Hornblower tv movies
    Black Hawk Down (2001)

    @caballero:

    nope, i actually enjoyed it despite some childish scenarios, script 'theft', obvious bias (favoring natives) from the start and low personal expectations prior to viewing:
